My POV on BPC
If you're a low-carber you get it. If you're not then I'll let you in on the secret....
BPC = Bulletproof Coffee.
Now I'm sure you've read articles and blogs on how amazing this stuff it. It's a staple to the LCHF/KETO lifestyle. It provides nutrition and helps make sure you get enough good fat intake for the day. It is so filling that it is really all you need in the morning. Not to mention it really does give you a boost of energy.
If you really want the breakdown on ALL of the nutritional benefits, then read this article:
What is Bulletproof Coffee + The Benefits of Grass-Fed Butter & Coconut Oil in Your Coffee
Basically, BPC is coffee with a tablespoon of grass-fed unsalted butter (I use Kerrygold, like many others) and a tablespoon of Coconut Oil (or MCT oil). And because coffee is water base and the other are oils you cannot simply put them together and mix with a spoon or fork (right, Bam? 😉). This will need to be blended in a blender (I use a NutriBullet) until it's nice and frothy. And for the love of all that is holy do NOT wait an hour to drink it. It will get cold and the water and oil will separate and taste like shit and feel like shit in your mouth. Don't chug, but drink fairly quickly.
Now it's time for me to be real. The first time I tried this I thought it was horrible. It tastes like buttered coffee (go figure). Of course, I'm a "I like a little coffee with my cream and sugar" person. Hence why it threw me off. Then I found out that you can add stuff (as long as it falls within the LC guidelines). So that's what I did. I started off by adding a spoonful of Stevia. Eh.... sweet butter coffee still didn't cut it. So then I added a spoonful of unsweetened cocoa powder along with the spoonful of Stevia.... Better...
And then I found it. Sugar Free Caramel Macchiato Creamer.
I was in the grocery store and it was like the clouds opened up and a light from heaven shown upon it. I bought it and couldn't wait to try it the next morning. Boy, am I glad I did. It tasted just like a latte. A sweet and delicious frothy latte.
So for those of you who aren't following here is a single serving:
8-10 oz freshly brewed coffee
1 TBSP Kerrygold Unsalted Butter
1 TBSP Coconut Oil
1-2 tsp Stevia (to taste, mine's usually a heaping teaspoon)
1-2 tsp Unsweetened Cocoa Powder (to taste)
1 TBSP International Delight's Sugar Free Caramel Macchiato Creamer
*Blend for about 30 seconds and serve
Like I said, you can play around with it. I've used my SF Chocolate Creamer and it was good. I've also used some HWC and still tasted like sweet cocoa. It is all about your preference on taste. But you cannot skip on the butter or oil. Both are essential.
So now you've tried it and you love it. But it gets to be a pain to pull all the ingredients out of the cupboard every morning. Wouldn't be nice just to have it all into one.... let's say, BPC bomb... to just plop into the blender and add the coffee and creamer? HECK YES IT WOULD! And why figure all that out when I have already done that for you 😘.
BPC BOMBS:
1 LB Grass-fed Unsalted Butter (Kerrygold)
1 1/4 Cups Coconut Oil (or MCT Oil)
1 Cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
1 Cup Stevia
Melt Butter & Coconut oil (I use the microwave)
Add Cocoa Powder & Stevia
Whisk together
Pour equally into 20 of the 2 oz plastic shot cups
Cover with lids and store in the refrigerator.
To add to coffee:
Put 1 bomb in blender
Add 8-10 oz fresh brewed coffee
OPTIONAL: Add 1 TBSP of any SF Creamer, 1/2 & 1/2 or HWC.
Blend for approx 30 seconds
Enjoy :)
I really hope you all give this a shot. Don't assume because you normally hate coffee that you will hate this. In my FB groups I have read so many times of anti-coffeeists who love BPC. Also, this can be done with Tea (Bulletproof Tea). Same concept (the butter, oil, sweetener, creamer) but using tea instead of coffee.
Also, I want to give a quick apology for missing a week. Work was swamped and I was running trying to prepare for sports and a kid having surgery that I just didn't get to post last week. Hopefully next week I will make it up to all of you by posting twice that week. But until then, thank you for those sticking with me. It is very much appreciated and I love you all for it 💚.
Please ask any questions or leave feedback in the comments section. I look forward to hearing from you.
